Guia Black Chefs
UI/UX Design, Next.js Development, Voting Platform & Admin Dashboard
A complete digital platform developed for Guia Black Chefs, a Mundo Negro initiative created to recognize Black-owned and Black-led food and beverage businesses across São Paulo, Rio de Janeiro, and Salvador through a multi-stage public voting award. The project was designed not only as an award website, but as a scalable foundation for future editions, new cities, and an expanding directory of participating businesses.
Starting from the project requirements and visual direction, we created the complete UI/UX design and developed the platform in Next.js, including the public website, city and category pages, individual business profiles, news and institutional content, registration and nomination flows, and the complete voting experience. Business submissions are handled directly within the platform and enter a moderation workflow before being approved and published.
At the core of the project is a custom-built voting and administration system developed specifically for the award. The administrative dashboard allows the Mundo Negro team to review and approve registrations, manage editions, cities, categories and voting phases, select finalists, control score visibility, monitor vote results and confirmation rates, export data, audit individual votes and invalidate suspicious activity — without requiring direct access to code or the database.
The voting infrastructure was designed with integrity and auditability in mind. Votes are validated through e-mail confirmation, with controls against duplicate voting, disposable e-mail services, automated submissions and excessive attempts. Each vote generates a technical record that can be reviewed and exported for independent verification if necessary.
Both the design and development were executed through an AI-accelerated workflow using Claude Code (Anthropic), allowing rapid iteration across interface design, application architecture and implementation while maintaining a fully customized product.
The platform is hosted on Cloudflare, with the Next.js application deployed across Cloudflare’s network, structured application data stored in Cloudflare D1, and images and media assets managed through Cloudflare R2 object storage. This architecture provides globally distributed delivery, scalable storage, SSL and security protections, while allowing the platform to handle traffic and media demand during registration, voting and award announcements without relying on a traditional single-server infrastructure.
Deliverables: UI/UX design, Next.js development, responsive public website, business registration and nomination system, participant profiles, city and category pages, multi-stage voting system, e-mail vote verification, fraud-prevention controls, custom administrative dashboard, registration moderation and approval workflow, voting phase management, finalist management, results and reporting, vote auditing and export tools, Cloudflare infrastructure and Cloudflare D1 database configuration.
